BEADED STRIKE-A-LIGHTS
UPDATED November 23, 2007

We are pleased to announce that some of our beaded pieces were featured in an issue of Vogue Italia and our chokers were featured in an article in Simply Beads magazine.

Here are some examples of strike-a-lights. All beading is done with size 12 or smaller glass seed beads (resulting in over 100 to 200 beads per square inch). You can order any item we have shown here. It will not be completely identical as we try to create one of a kind items. It usually takes 30 days to six weeks to finish your piece, depending on the backlog on our work board.

If you have a particular design or tribal colors in mind, please let us know your wishes. Please click on the pictures below to get a close-up of the beadwork.

Everything you see is created by Kokitusi`aki (Diana Passmore) or Siksmissi (Kathy Anderson). We have tried to show the best pictures we can - so give them a chance to load.

Strike-a-lights are known for their distinctive shape (a little wider at the bottom (4") than the top (3") with a flap and usually decorated with fringe, tin cones, hair pipe or horsehair. They were used to carry flint and items to start a fire. These measure approximately 5" high (not including fringe or embellishments). All are made with braintanned deerhide and sewn with imitation sinew, beaded with size 12 or smaller glass seed beads (resulting in over 120 beads per square inch - each one selected by hand).
