Beaded Possibles Bags and Mirror Pouches
UPDATED November 23, 2007

We are pleased to announce that some of our beaded pieces were featured in an issue of Vogue Italia and our chokers were featured in an article in Simply Beads magazine.

Here are some examples of possibles bags and mirror pouches. All beading is done with size 12 or smaller glass seed beads (resulting in over 100 beads per square inch). You can order any item we have shown here although it will not be identical as we try to create one of a kind items. It usually takes 30 days to six weeks to finish your piece, depending on the backlog on our work board. We will advise the time frame when you place your order. If you have a particular design or tribal colors in mind, please let us know your wishes. Please click on the pictures below to get a close-up of the beadwork. Everything you see is created by Kokitusi`aki (Diana Passmore) or Siksmissi (Kathy Anderson). NOTE: There are a lot of images on this page - give it a chance to load.

The following are referred to as "possibles" bags. Native Americans did not have pockets as we know today so they used a variety of bags and pouches for different purposes. "Possibles" bags were used to carry any manner of things that didn't belong somewhere else (such as a strike-a-light, paint pouch, mirror pouch, knife sheath, etc.) These all measure approximately 4" x 5" (not including any fringe shown) and are made from braintanned, smoked deerhide. Each piece is unique and completely beaded and sewn by hand - these are the antiques of tomorrow and will last for generations. Click on the picture below to get a close-up.

The following are a series of mirror pouches. (so called because a mirror was often tucked inside - a very valuable piece to Native Americans). When opened, they measure 7" overall in length with the pouch portion measuring 3" x 3". When the flap is closed, they measure 3-1/2" long by 3" wide. (Not including ties or dangle). Made from braintanned white (unsmoked) or smoked deerhide and beaded with size 12 or 14 beads (resulting in over 140 beads per square inch. Completely edge beaded and hand sewn. This are extremely well made pieces and will last for generations. Note that a mirror comes with the bag. The prices vary according to the amount of beadwork involved. If you have a favorite design, be sure to let us know.
